Project Background
Today we’re excited to share the after photos of an amazing kitchen transformation. When we found out that one of our favorite interior designers, Jacquelyn Clark (of Lark & Linen) was renovating her mother’s kitchen, we jumped at the chance to help with the project. Jacquelyn is a big believer that every design project calls for new window treatments (a sentiment we of course share!) and she wanted to make sure the windows in her mom’s kitchen got just as much love as the rest of the space.
The Design Consultation
Earlier this year, Decorview designer Marisa, met with Jacquelyn to help her find a solution for one window and one glass door in her mom’s kitchen. Design continuity was a must, so Jacquelyn wanted to make sure that the chosen style could accommodate the unique functional requirements of both a window and door. After reviewing lots of fabric samples and discussing the pros and cons of different shades styles, lift systems and installation options, Marisa recommended classic Roman shades with a fun bonus – motorization!
Window Treatments for A Traditional Kitchen
The classic Roman shades look absolutely stunning and the rich linen fabric adds a lux feel to the space. Plus, the neutral sandy color palette perfectly complements some of the other standout furnishings in the room.
The kitchen door features an outside mount, but the narrow headrail and flat stack reduces any visual bulk. When drawn, the shade travels behind the door’s hardware, so it remains functional whether you wish to have the shade open or closed. Hold down brackets make sure the shade doesn’t swing away from the door when it’s moved.
To operate the shades, Marisa recommended the most convenient option available – PowerView® Motorization by Hunter Douglas. With the touch of a button, Jacquelyn’s mom can move her new window coverings to the exact position she wants. Plus, no external operating cords means a clean, uncluttered look at the window.
